Papal Prayer Intentions for March, 2010



General Intention: That the nations of Latin America may walk in fidelity to the Gospel and be bountiful in social justice and peace.

Missionary Intention: That the Holy Spirit may give light and strength to the Christian communities and the faithful who are persecuted or discriminated against because of the Gospel.

Indulgences and the Rosary

When praying the Rosary, one can gain a plenary indulgence if the Rosary is recited:

  • in its entirety
  • in a group in front of the Blessed Sacrament
  • in a Catholic church
  • out loud
  • if prayed publicly, the Mysteries should be announced

One must also:

  • make a sacramental confession within a week of praying the Rosary
  • receive Holy Communion
  • pray for the Pope's monthly intentions. This is typically done by praying an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be at the end of the Rosary.

If all of the above conditions are not met, a person may still receive a partial indulgence.
