What Are Rosary Rings?

We had a customer come in to our store yesterday and asked what "this ring thing" was that she inherited from her grandmother. She had had it for years and never knew what to do with it.

Rosry RingIt turns out that the "ring thing" was a Rosary ring much like the one pictured here. Rosary rings come in a variety of styles but they all work basically the same way: You put the ring on your finger and start the Our Father at the Crucifix with each of the bumps or beads going around used to keep track of the Hail Mary's. You will have to keep track of which Mystery you are on separetely.

Apart from this style, rings also come in a rotating variety that are much more flat and can be worn as a ring all the time. Rotating Rosary rings make great gifts for youth groups or religious education classes because they are inexpensive but also useful.
